3 weeks left at the office... lots of plans
will go to taiwan, to check out some books.... also in the works of going over to singapore for around a week,. nothing to see in the city but i guess that's the point-- pure rest ......... maybe some time around there i'll get the macbook... depending on how much i get for my bonus, hopefully it can be enough so i can max out the ram and harddrive
just bought my tix to sfo... and in the process of working out the milage for my chicago and philly trips. really looks hectic when i think about it, lots of things i need to send out from chicago and champaign, and esp especially upon arriving at philly, i'll have to move in, register with the international students office, work out life in general, and explore philly... all in the matter of 3 or 4 days.... i'm definately not looking forward to that, so i need to make sure i schedule everything out well and 'rehearse' it over before heading back to the states....... the good thing is that i (wisely) made a trip to visit arthur 2 years ago, so i know my bearings at penn and the city in general.... actually pretty excited in terms of living in philly.... of course there's a lot of tough coursework ahead (oh yeah, i need to register for classes). so i need to do plenty of reading to catch up in theory work etc etc......
was thinking the other day.... i think i might actually miss living in china.... has been a year of great experiences.. and i can say with great confidence that i've done a lot more that what i imagined, and certainly much more than what i would have otherwise had i stayed in the states (whether it be for work or in grad school). Of course all the business trips worked in very well for me, since i wouldn't have had the chance to visit all these places on my own (esp obscure places like changsha and guiyang!),.... also very thankful that i finally made my long awaited/anticipated trips to shanghai and beijing. i think the greatest benefit has been the chance to learn a whole lot about china in general, from learning, listening, seeing, reading, and living through it.
